Education; A Political Commodity to Get Voters

Education is a really popular topic to discuss among people, including politicians. In fact, as the public election arrives, the educational issue comes up as a part of what many politicians from any party must talk about. They take the issue as a strategy to get voters as many as possible. Better and more accessible education is always stated as the program they offer. Nowadays, education turns to be a priority issue for political interest for several reasons.

First of all, being a part of very basic need for people, education may be a well-known issue. Certainly, beside economic and health, all of people need education to get the betterment of life. The better their education can be, the better their opportunity to get employed. Therefore, this issue is really close to public.

Next, education takes part significantly in considering someone’s social class. Going toward modern life, people see not only the nobility and the wealthy but also the level education to put someone to his particular social class. Those whose higher education may have brighter future and get an honor position in society. So, this significance of education puts it as an influential issue for politicians.

In addition to the significance of education in terms of primary necessity and social status determination, previous politicians’ success in using the issue to win the election is another reason. Various studies examining the influence of public opinion towards education in the election shows that the issue is effective to persuade potential voters. For instance, as they suggested the program possibly enabling all people to get better education, many people were attracted and then decided to vote. This finding encourages recent politicians to do so.

In conclusion, education is used as a political commodity by politicians to attract public in the election. This political interest emerges since they recognized education’s importance as a basic need, significance in determining social status, and effectiveness in prior elections. If this continues without any effort to implement the program in which education involved, in the following elections public will not be enthusiastic to the issue at all.
